Neurodivergent psychologist one to ones

You won’t be passed around between departments or assessed by multiple people. Here, you work with myself, one experienced consultant clinical psychologist from start to finish,  someone who listens, understands your concerns, and builds a professional relationship with you, all under the supervision of a highly experienced psychologist who also specialises in neurodiversity, to ensure accuracy and accountability.

More about Private Autism Assessments for Adults

Many adults reach out for an autism assessment after years of feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed. You might be masking your difficulties in social situations, struggling with changes in routine, or sensing that you experience the world differently but don’t know why.

My autism assessments follow NICE guidelines and are designed specifically for adults. The process involves a clinical interview, a developmental and behavioural history, and recognised diagnostic tools such as the ADOS-2 or RAADS-R, depending on what’s clinically appropriate.

Every assessment is tailored to your individual experiences. You’ll receive a written report with a clear diagnostic outcome and practical recommendations for your next steps. This can be used for accessing workplace support, therapy, or adjustments in daily life. Many clients find that simply understanding their autistic profile brings a sense of relief and self-acceptance. Where you do not get a diagnosis I will always seek to suggest alternative explanations and ways forward.

Private Adult ADHD Assessments

ADHD symptoms can include difficulties with concentration, staying organised, following through on tasks, managing time effectively and priroitising. Research suggests that approximately 3-4% of adults have ADHD, and 50-70% of autistic adults also have ADHD (sometimes referred to as AuDHD).

You may have seen in the media that there are some concerns about the quality of ADHD assessments from some providers. Please be assured that an assessment with myself will be completed in a non biased way, always considering other possible explanations for your symptoms, and is thorough (taking as long as we need), completed under appropriate supervision, and according to NICE guidelines. Y biggest priority is to give you an accurate diagnosis and formulation, whatever the outcome may be.

I assess adults for ADHD using a comprehensive and structured clinical approach. This includes a full history, clinical interview, and use of validatedADHD-specific assessment tools. The aim is to understand whether your difficulties are explained by ADHD and how they are affecting you in everyday life. An assessment provides answers, validation, and a practical way forward.

As with autism assessments, you will receive a full written report with recommendations and support options. Diagnosis can help to guide therapy, workplace support, and in some cases, further referrals for medication if required (Please note however, you are advised to check with your GP as to whether a private ADHD assessment would be accepted for prescribing purposes).

Online Appointments – Nationwide Access

If you're outside Manchester or simply prefer the convenience of remote assessment, I provide online appointments. These sessions are held securely via video call and follow the same clinical process as in-person assessments. Online assessments are available across the UK or internationally and are especially useful for clients who experience travel anxiety, sensory issues, or have tight schedules. Remote sessions are just as effective, with clients receiving the same quality of care and clarity in outcomes.

Face To Face Appointments in Manchester

I offer in-person appointments every Monday in Chorlton, Manchester. These sessions are ideal for those who prefer face-to-face interaction or would benefit from being in the same room during their assessment. My consultation room is quiet, private, and accessible by public transport. Many clients find in-person appointments help them feel more at ease, especially during developmental interviews and diagnostic discussions. I work in an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, with unisex toilets. I tailor the room to your needs, so please let me know about any sensory sensitivities in advance, although lighting is always dimmed. Sensory items are available during the appointment as I know these can help soothe people who may be highly anxious.

How Long Does the Process Take?

After your initial consultation, the full assessment typically takes between two to four weeks to complete. This includes the clinical interviews, diagnostic sessions, scoring and analysis, and final feedback.

Here’s a general timeline (this is typical and may be tailored to your individual needs):

Week 1: Initial assessment and completion of screening tools
Week 2–3: Diagnostic sessions (in-person or online)
Week 4: Feedback session and delivery of your written diagnostic report
Some assessments may be completed more quickly depending on availability. You’ll be kept informed at every stage.
